The verdict

Both are per-user job management tools sold to UK trade businesses, and the fork in the road is tax handling versus integration breadth, not price alone. Choose Powered Now if you're VAT-registered and want Making Tax Digital compliance built in from the cheapest £28/month plan, with VAT return submission from £32 and free setup and training on every tier. Choose Tradify if you need Xero, Sage or QuickBooks synced from day one rather than Xero alone, and want the far larger body of independent user reviews to weigh before you commit. Powered Now undercuts Tradify by £4 to £6 per user at every tier, so the price gap alone won't settle it: your accounting platform and VAT workflow will.

Desk assessed: We checked current UK pricing against official vendor sources, read the official documentation and terms, and weighed public user evidence. No hands-on use yet.

What that doesn't mean: That we've run it on a live job. Day-to-day feel, speed and support quality are reported from user evidence, not our own use.

Who should choose which

Choose Tradify if…

  • You need Sage or QuickBooks synced from your first month, not just Xero

  • Progress invoicing and subcontractor scheduling for staged work matter to your business
  • You want gas/electrical compliance certificates handled inside the tool from the Pro tier

Look elsewhere if…

  • You need an integration beyond the accounting links listed here: verify it directly during the trial before choosing either product
  • You run 6 or more staff and want a contracted onboarding process with heavier reporting: look at Commusoft instead

The pricing gap, worked across team sizes

Powered Now is cheaper than Tradify at every published tier: £28 against £34 at entry level, £32 against £37 in the middle, and £40 against £44 at the top, all per user per month ex VAT. Because both bill per seat, that gap scales with headcount rather than staying fixed.

Working the entry-tier numbers by team size (ex VAT, before any annual-billing discount): one user costs £34 on Tradify against £28 on Powered Now; three users £102 against £84; five users £170 against £140; ten users £340 against £280. A ten-person team saves £60 a month, £720 a year, by choosing the cheaper entry tier alone, before weighing what each tier actually includes.

Powered Now also advertises two months free on annual billing, which Tradify's published pricing does not mention, so the real annual gap is wider still if you pay yearly. Confirm both vendors' current annual terms before you commit; this page states monthly list prices.

Tax handling versus integration breadth

This is the real fork in the road, more than price. Powered Now is built by a British vendor with Making Tax Digital compliance on its cheapest plan and full VAT return submission from Professional (£32/month), so a VAT-registered sole trader can quote, invoice and file the quarterly return inside one system. Tradify does not publish an equivalent VAT-filing feature; its UK-specific strengths are compliance certificates (electrical and gas/oil safety) on Pro rather than VAT return submission.

Tradify ships Xero, Sage and QuickBooks from its cheapest £34 plan. Powered Now's published feature lists show Xero only, arriving at the £32 Professional tier, with no Sage or QuickBooks listed at any tier. If your accountant works in Sage or QuickBooks, that alone may decide this comparison before price or tax handling are even weighed.

What this comparison is based on

Desk assessment: both price lists and feature matrices were checked against the vendors' own UK pricing pages, most recently re-checked 19 August 2026 for both (unchanged since Tradify's 28 July 2026 and Powered Now's 29 July 2026 checks), so reconfirm before you commit. Tradify's individual review also carries a completed fictional-data trial spot-check (customer creation) and an extended fictional-data trial workflow (quote through to invoice); Powered Now's review has not yet had an equivalent trial session, so there is more first-hand evidence behind the Tradify side of this page than the Powered Now side. See each product's own review for exactly what was and wasn't checked.

User-evidence volume is asymmetric too: Tradify has a substantial, dated Capterra UK listing to weigh (4.7/5 from 152 reviews), while we found materially less independent UK user evidence for Powered Now at the time of writing. That reflects Powered Now's smaller public footprint, not a product fault, but it means more of this comparison's Powered Now side rests on the vendor's own documentation. Nothing here was influenced by any commercial relationship, and neither vendor saw this page before publication.
